Coins of New Zealand.

It was never an expressed intention to make a collection of coins, from New Zealand, their coins are so beautiful it sort of happened by itself.  The two and the ten cent coins were designed by New Zealand artist Reginald George James Berry, in the 1967.  The dollar coin's kiwi design was by Robert Maurice Conly, in 1990

This beautiful two cent coin was the second smallest denomination coin before being decommissioned in 1990. The bronze coin features two kowhai flowers, considered emblematic of New Zealand.

The Maori mask design is hand cut using a jewellers piercing saw, care, patience & good eyesight put into it.
The original design on a ten cent coin, again designed by Reginald George James Berry.  The Koruru mask is sometimes mounted onto the end of a house, to welcome guests and is known as the Guardian of the House.

The dollar coin features the kiwi bird, the national bird of New Zealand. It’s a flightless bird, of the emu and the ostrich family, although it’s roughly the size of a chicken and the only bird to have nostrils at the end of it’s beak. The coin itself is made up of copper, aluminium and nickel.
